Christmas 2009

Call me old fashioned, but I am in LOVE with Christmastime. I love seeing family, being crafty, baking, being with friends, having the kids home, and don't forget eating! We had a wonderful Christmas and break!

We spent time making Christmas gifts for neighbors and teachers...

Decorating gingerbread houses with the kids!Having our annual neighborhood Christmas party! He is really the "true" Santa Clause.

Santa was checking to see if Austin has really been "nice"...

Santa walked through the door as we all sang the song "Santa Clause is coming to town" at the top of our lungs. We were so happy he heard us singing so he could come! The kids went crazy!
Santa passed out gifts to each of the kids... (a brand new pair of PJ's for Christmas Eve)
Christmas morning came a little too early for us (but not early enough for the kids!) It was magical. I keep thinking it will be so sad someday when the kids are all grown up. For now we just relish our Christmas morning magic with them!

Mrs. Clause always shares a nice treat with us Christmas morning. All the kids favorite treats! We are so happy she found us again this year!

After a fun morning of presents and treats we hopped in the car for a treasure hunt at the Riparian Preserve with Dave's family. With the help of some compasses, binoculars and whistles we found all the treasures from Grandma Kathy!

The whole gang...

Austin's Christmas Recital 2009

Dave and I decided that we wanted for this piano recital to give Austin a little one on one time. We went to his recital solo (meaning without our usual entourage) and we all loved it and even got to sit through the entire thing!! We went to dinner, his recital, then topped it off with a yummy ice cream stop! It's amazing how much your kids will talk to you when you aren't preoccupied with a lot of other kid's needs/wants (or cell phones, or tv, or ___). It made me appreciate why Dave is so faithful in doing "daddy-son" dates with the kids. I loved spending time together, and were so proud of Austin doing such a good job on his recital. He has gotten so good these last couple of years. Good job Austy!

Playing "Away in a Manger" completely memorized!
All finished and happy about a job well done!
Proud mommy (and oops no pics of dad!) Next time our trusty photographer will have to be documented too!

A Trip To The Snow...

We had an amazing time up in Show Low with our friends the Stapley's! It was so nice to have a cabin/snow getaway! The kids couldn't comprehend being cold! It was so cute. They lasted sledding in about 15 minute intervals! It was so fun to just do NOTHING all day and sit by the fire, chat, and relax. We ate yummy food, had snow ball fights (dumb and dumber style), and just enjoyed the company! Thanks for such a fun trip guys!

The beautiful cabin...
Dave and I enjoying the beautiful snowfall.

Karsyn and Addi sledding. They laughed so much as we took them down the hill. SO much fun!
We got out of town literally JUST in time. The roads one way were completely closed down. We said about 100 prayers to get home safely. It was a HUGE blizzard! Needless to say we did!

Zoo lights!

We are still trying to figure out fun family traditions to do at Christmastime here in Arizona, and visiting the Zoo Lights has been one we have really enjoyed! The kids love the lights and the animals. Plus this year they had 3-D glasses to wear that make the lights even more fun!
Chase & me waiting to get in...sippin on hot peppermint cocoa! (Love Starbucks!)Addi, Dave and Austy trying to pretend they weren't freezin their patooties off!

Blakey's Christmas Concert

Blakey had his preschool Christmas concert. He sang SO loud and was such a great little performer! In the middle of the concert he yelled out "There's my dad!" super loud. It was so cute. Great job little buddy!
