With Summer here it is time again for Mommy School. Each week the kids and I choose a theme and enjoy activities, an FHE, games and field trips to correspond with the theme.
We usually start the day with the pledge, scripture study, a quick memorization (scripture or short poem), then work on some work book. We break for chores and piano practicing, and end up doing a craft or activity in the afternoon. I am not a super-nazi, if something fun comes up we don't stick to the schedule, but it is a great way to keep a routine for the kids during the summer and also keep their little minds alert during the summer months. I know some of you already have the schedule I use, but if you want it email me and I will send it to you! This is a great way to work on Scouting or Faith in God achievements too. It is mostly crazy and super messy all summer, but this is just a way to try to keep the insanity to a minimum.
My favorite workbook for Summer. I have used this the last 2 years. It touches all of the academic bases and the kids have loved it.

There are a ton of free (or super inexpensive) activities to do this Summer including puppet shows, story time, craft projects at the library, Lowe's Saturday projects, Summer movies, Arizona museum for youth, etc. If you have any other ideas to add please share! I am always up for some great new ideas!
